MOLIVOS
It is one of the most beautiful traditional settlements of the entire Aegean! Molivos is located in the northern and eastern part of Lesvos with intense medieval sense and romantic beauty. The magnificent Byzantine castle of the settlement dominates the hill as the traditional houses and mansions spread out at the bottom. All the above, as well as its cobbled narrow streets, cobblestones and fountains, contributed to its declaration as a protected settlement.
SKALA ERESSOS BEACH
It is one of the most famous beaches of the island with extreme tourism and it is ideal for all tastes. It is sandy with fine gray sand, very calm, but also adventurous as the sea sports and bars line the shore. The beach of Skala Eressos is sandy with clear blue waters, it has been awarded with the blue flag and has been judged by the E.U. as the cleanest and most well-kept beach of Greece.
AGIOS ISIDOROS BEACH
It is no coincidence that it is one of the most touristic beaches of the island, since it is a beach with a large area, sand and crystal clear waters. After the cool dips, the ouzo in Plomari is a must, which is famous for its great tradition in this production.
BYZANTINE CASTLE
At the northeastern end of Mytilene, between a pine forest and the sea, the Byzantine Castle rises. It is one of the largest castles in the Mediterranean. Mytilene is one of the oldest cities in Greece, perhaps in the whole world. Its security and freedom rested on the walls and was surrounded by the walls of its Castle, which was probably built in the Byzantine era, in the time of Justinian.
PETRIFIED FOREST
It is one of the two largest petrified forests in the world. No description can capture this unparalleled work of nature. Petrified trunks are scattered over an area of 150 square kilometers enclosed by the settlements of Sigri, Eresos and Antissa in western Lesbos. The formation of the petrified forest is related to the intense volcanic activity that took place on Lesvos about 20 million years ago. It has been designated as a protected natural monument and it is a reason to visit the island. The famous Museum of Natural History of the Petrified Forest of Lesvos has been part of the UNESCO Global Network of Geoparks since 2004 and highlights the impressive finds of the Petrified Forest in its modern facilities.
HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT RAPHAEL
One of the most important spiritual retreats of Lesvos, but also of the country. It is located on the hill of Karios, between the olive groves and consists of 2 temples that were built one on top of the other to contain the tombs of the Saints. In the upper church is the tomb of St. Raphael, while in the lower church are the tombs of St. Nikolaos, of St. Irene and her father.
